Background
Pacific Community Partnerships is made up of friends and family of the people of Lilisiana Village, Solomon Islands, who came together because of a desire to help out a community in need.
We aim to create partnerships with other Pacific communities in order to share funding, materials, resources skills and knowledge to develop projects that give support in the areas of:
- water supplies and sanitation;
- food production and supply security;
- health facilities and services;
-
- early childhood education resources;
-
- income generation;
-
- environment and climate change.
Additionally we hope to raise awareness in the broader community about these issues particularly through the medium of film.
So far we have been successful in completing Project Helpim Lilisiana by working in collaboration with the Fui Geli Asi Womens Association in Lilisiana Village. This project included Womens Celebration Days that created learning and discussions about Womens’ Issues; supporting the Lilisiana Kindergarten with educational materials; and aiding in the completion of Lilisiana Water Tank Project to install an extra three water tanks in the village. The project was made possible through volunteer work and by donations of materials and funds from PCP supporters.
We look forward to continuing to foster relationships and work on projects with Pacific Communities in the future.
